Excuse me but I will be eating this sesame ginger salad for the rest of my days. It is fresh, packed with flavors, and just so good. It will be on repeat for me for a while and I can’t wait for you to try it out.
I have always been a fan of this type of salad. Lots of ginger, lots of crunch, it’s just so tasty to me, and this one is so easy to make. I like serving it with dumplings, but it is also filling enough to serve it on it’s own!

sesame ginger salad

Ingredients
salad
- 1 head romaine lettuce about 4 cups
- 1/2 head cabbage about 2 cups
- 1/2 large cucumber
- 1 cup chicken cooked
- 1/2 cup cilantro
- 1/2 cup peanuts
- 2 green onions
- 1 avocado sliced
sesame ginger dressing
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 2 tbsp sesame oil
- 3 tbsp rice vinegar
- 3 tbsp honey
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 grated garlic clove about 1 tsp
- 1 tsp grated fresh ginger
- 1 tbsp sesame seeds
Instructions
- Chop the romaine lettuce and add it to a large bowl. Thinly slice the cabbage (I prefer using a mandolin) and add to the bowl.
- Cut the cucumber into small pieces then transfer onto a couple paper towels. Let the cucumbers sit here for about 10 minutes to let some of the water release.
- Meanwhile, cut the chicken into small pieces. Finely chop the cilantro and green onions. Chop the peanuts into smaller pieces. Add everything to the large bowl.
- To make the dressing, add all the ingredients to a jar: olive oil, sesame oil, rice vinegar, honey, soy sauce, grated garlic, grated ginger, and sesame seeds. Put a lid on the jar and shake until the dressing is fully combined.
- To assemble, squeeze any remaining water from the cucumbers, then add to the large bowl. Add as much dressing as you want and toss until everything is well coated and combined.
- Divide into bowls and top with avocado and extra sesame seeds (optional).

bruh. i hope your comments section isn’t a reflection of the traction your website has because made a couple of your dishes and most of my “to make” are from your page (found via insta) but this recipe this the stand out, I’ve gone on to make iterations of it based on what i have in my fridge or what I can be bothered doing or simply I forgot elements of it and didn’t realise till way after and found that I still thoroughly enjoyed it. I’m typing this while eating the thai basil mince dish sans pickled veg, i’ll get around to that another time. but as i started, bruh; your recipes are accessible, presented beautifully and so far, they all taste great!! My folks are always excited when I prepare a dish of yours.
Anyway, thanks, one day I’ll drop you some coin for saving me money on not just buying/eating rotisserie chickens.
