tarzan monkey bread

tarzan monkey bread

last updated on October 30, 2026

This Tarzan monkey bread is the second part of my series, Desserts Inspired by Disney Movies! This monkey bread is gooey, flakey, and so easy to make.

One of the reasons I love The Parent Trap, which was the movie for part one of this series, is because of the incredible soundtrack. AND Tarzan has an equally good soundtrack! Phil Collins really did something for us with the Tarzan soundtrack. He didn’t have to, but he did it for US. What a guy. So to celebrate Phil and Tarzan, we are making monkey bread!

I got the idea for doing monkey bread this way from my friend Stephanie (@simplysstephanie on instagram), and I will never go back! The problem with normal monkey bread is, since it all bakes together, the bottom is doughy or barely done, and the top is overcooked. There are only a few pieces in the middle that are perfectly cooked! BUT, here is the solution.

We are using Pillsbury Grand’s dough, which is flakey and bakes really well. Then, instead of pilling the dough all in one container / bundt pan, we are going to fill a muffin tin! This way, the dough is spread out and cooks more evenly!

So, you should probably watch Tarzan and make this monkey bread! Or at least listen to the soundtrack while you bake!

[PREP] 10 minutes
[COOK] 30 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 package Pillsbury Grands
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tbsp cinnamon
  • 4 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350. Cut each pillsbury grands into 8 pieces. Combine the cinnamon and sugar in a bowl and toss all the biscuit pieces in the mixture.
  2. Combine the butter, brown sugar, and salt in a bowl. Heat in the microwave until the butter is melted. Spoon a small amount into 6 cavities of a muffin tin.
  3. Pile the dough into the 6 cavities of the muffin tin. There should be about 10 pieces in each.
  4. Top with any remaining butter + brown sugar mixture and bake at 350 for 20-30 minutes, until the tops are crispy and the middle isn’t doughy! Enjoy!

add the dates, coconut, vanilla paste, and salt to a food processor. blend until the dates start to break down, then add the hot water and blend until a paste forms. set aside. place the chocolate chips and coconut oil in a bowl and microwave at 15 second intervals, stirring between each, until melted and smooth. top the Quaker® caramel rice cake with the hazelnut butter, the coconut date mixture, and drizzle with chocolate. top with flaky salt then transfer to the fridge to set up for about 10 minutes. enjoy!
